We are a start-up materials company that develops functional wool textiles from Nordic surplus wool for the furniture industry and the urban outdoor segment. Our vision is to establish traceable and circular wool textiles, produced through a Nordic value chain and designed to meet future demands for sustainability and transparency.
We believe that the competitive textile systems of the future will not be built through more global and complex material flows, but through smarter use of the resources that already exist. By transforming Swedish surplus wool into high-quality products, we can create new business opportunities, reduce resource consumption and contribute to a more resilient Swedish textile industry.
Védratex is inspired by Scandinavian tradition and precision, rooted in Swedish materials and Swedish climate.
Our first fabric is being developed using wool from Ullkontoret, who wash and spin wool sourced from Swedish sheep farmers.
The result is Védratex Eirra, a hard-wearing, high-quality fabric suitable for furniture in private homes as well as public spaces.
A fabric that bears close inspection. But above all, a fabric that can withstand wear and tear.
Védratex is a play on words combining the swedish words for ‘weather’ and ‘textile’, but it also draws on Norse mythology and Verdandi, the Norn who represents the present and determines what happens next.
It describes how we want to contribute to Swedish textile production – with agility, responsiveness and the courage to drive development forward.
Védratex is rooted in two things: the long history of wool in the Swedish landscape and a newfound conviction in the role of wool in a future society.
